Old Time Banjo Festival
This project, produced by old friend Cathy Fink, features some of finest clawhammer banjo players in North America including Bruce Molsky, Mike Seeger, Adam Hurt, Dan Gellert, and Paul Brown. The tunes are pretty much all solo and duo offerings which really allows you to hear the sweet detail of this lovely style of banjo playing. Though I have written many of my own tunes, Cathy’s pick for my number was a Robert Burns waltz called Ye Banks and Braes o Bonnie Doon which I learned from a harpist while at the Shetland Islands Folk Festival many years ago. I accompany myself here on bowed bass.
